EvoFox 1X Review: Is this the best gaming controller under ₹2,800

8 Min Read
EvoFox 1X

EvoFox 1X In the gaming world, a good controller is not just about buttons and joysticks—it also involves latency, comfort, build quality, vibration, battery life, and these days, of course, Hall Effect technology. The EvoFox 1X has come into the market with a combination of all these. It costs around ₹2,800. But the question is—is it really value for money at this price? Or is it just another RGB-equipped controller?

Let’s take a closer look.

The controller is great. The feel in the hand is pretty good. It’s all polycarbonate, but the plastic used is good quality. You can feel the controller as soon as you hold it. And on the back, you get some texture for the grip. And here, there’s the EVOF branding, and it’s a slightly different color around the start select button. And there’s an RGB stripe in this area in the middle. And you can customize this RGB strip.

Pressing the FN plus select button will bring up eight colors. Pressing the FN button twice switches to RGB breathing mode. It’s not that impressive, but it does create a somewhat gaming-friendly look.

Unboxing Experience

Opening the EvoFox 1X box shows that the company has paid attention to presentation. Inside you will find:

  • EvoFox 1X controller
  • USB Type-A to Type-C cable
  • 2.4GHz wireless dongle
  • Dongle extender
  • User manual
  • Warranty card

The dongle extender is a smart addition. Sometimes, connecting the dongle to the back of the PC causes signal problems. If you have an extender, you can bring it to the table and place it, which helps in performance.

Design and Build Qualit

The controller makes a good first impression. It follows the Xbox-style layout, which is familiar and comfortable for most gamers.

  • Weight: about 220 grams
  • Matte finish polycarbonate body
  • Textured grip on the back
  • RGB strip in the middle

The RGB lighting is not too flashy, but it gives enough gaming vibe. Pressing FN + Select gives 8 different colors, and pressing FN twice activates Breathing Mode.

Buttons and macros

The EvoFox 1X is quite rich in terms of buttons. There are standard ABXY buttons on the front, Start-Select, Turbo and Function buttons.

There are 4 additional macro buttons on the back. Up to 20 inputs can be programmed to these buttons at once. When playing fighting games like Tekken or Street Fighter, it is possible to execute an entire combo with one button.

The turbo button has two modes:

  • Turbo (hold down)
  • Auto Turbo (repeats automatically)

This feature is very useful in fighting and shooter games.

Hall Effect Joystick and Trigge

Having Hall Effect technology at this price is a big advantage.

Hall Effect means that magnets are used inside the joystick and trigger. As a result:

  • Less physical contact
  • Less chance of stick drift
  • Long-lasting performance

The trigger is pressure sensitive from 0 to 100. Precise control is available in racing and shooter games.

Performance and Latency

The most important thing when buying a controller is latency.

Connection Mode  Polling Rate Latency
Wired 1000Hz  1ms
Dongle  1000Hz  1ms
Bluetooth  125Hz  8ms

For competitive gaming, it is better to use Wired or Dongle. Bluetooth is enough for casual gaming.

On-The-Fly Gyro – The Biggest Attractio

The biggest USP of the EvoFox 1X is the On-The-Fly Gyro.

Normally the Gyro works only in Bluetooth mode. But here, holding down the Mic button activates the Gyro—in Wired or Dongle mode as well.

This works great while sniping or precise targeting in FPS games.

This feature really takes the controller to a different league.

Connectivity & Compatibility

Tri-Mode Connection Available:

  • Wired
  • 2.4GHz Dongle
  • Bluetooth

Supported Devices:

  • PC
  • Android (vibration does not work)
  • iOS
  • iPad
  • MacBook (Gyro and vibration work)
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Steam Deck
  • PS3

PS4 and PS5 are not supported. Also does not work on Xbox due to Xbox licensing issues.

Nowadays, everyone needs a Gyro on their controller, whether they have one or not. Because you have to shake it to play games, right? However, Gyro is very useful if you play e-sports or any other game that involves a lot of aiming. Just like we use our phones to play games by shaking them.

If you want to connect to a PlayStation 3, it connects to the dongle. There is no connection on the PS4 or PS5. The separate PS4 and PS5 controllers state that they are made for them. We don’t get that other connection. So this controller is different from the PlayStation controller.

Vibration Experience

Vibration motor is smooth and controlled.

  • 5 levels of intensity
  • Option to turn off completely
  • No extra noise

Vibration can be turned off to save battery.

Battery Life

  • Battery: 800mAh
  • Average backup: About 5 hours (vibration on)

Automatically turns off after 10 minutes of non-use—a good power saving feature.

Software Support

Android users can use the Key Linker app to:

  • Remap buttons
  • Adjust trigger
  • sensitivity Update
  • firmware

You can do it

Comparison with competitors

EvoFox X2 Pro (₹2,400):

  • Cheaper
  • No gyro

Cosmic Byte Stellaris (~₹5,600):

  • Large battery
  • Trigger lock
  • Advanced build

However, the EvoFox 1X’s On-The-Fly Gyro gives it a special advantage.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Hall Effect joystick
  • 1000Hz low latency
  • On-The-Fly Gyro
  • Macro buttons
  • RGB customization

Cons

  • No PS5 support
  • Limited vibration on Android/iOS
  • No trigger lock

The EvoFox 1X is currently one of the strongest options in the ₹2,500–₹3,000 budget. It is especially suitable for PC and Nintendo Switch users.

This controller is a step ahead of its competitors due to the On-The-Fly Gyro feature.

If you are a serious gamer and want a low latency and long-lasting Hall Effect joystick—then you can definitely consider the EvoFox 1X.

The On-the-Fly Jar feature is great. Yes, it offers trigger lock, which it doesn’t have. But it has additional buttons that sit next to our triggers, just like the one-click buttons. It also has LED lights like ABXY. It has RGB strips, etc. And yes, it has a 1000 mAh battery. So, you definitely get a little better battery life.

If you want to do casual or story gaming, you can do that over Bluetooth too. But there are some games where input lag is very important. For example, if you’re playing games like Souls or e-sports titles, it doesn’t disappoint.
